Motorists can buy blue number plates to help in the fight against prostate cancer.
The NSW Government announced the initiative to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia yesterday, 100 years after number plates were first used on the state's roads.
"This is a real opportunity for people to make a difference," NSW Roads Minster David Borger said. The partnership with the PCFA was prompted by the success of pink plates, with more than $120,000 raised.

It is the first day of Movember, where men grow a moustache for the month of November to raise funds and awareness of mens health issues. Goldman talks to Mike Whitney, TV personality. Goldman says he starts growing his moustache and it looks like he has a dirty face. Whitney says men feel like that in the first couple of weeks but when it's nice and bushy at the end of the month, they feel good. He says it's all about highlighting awareness for mens health. Whitney says men can get involved in a number of ways, including being sponsored for growing a moustache. Money goes to charities Beyond Blue and The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Whitney says he is the ambassador for Burgen bread this month and they have introduced a loaf called Mens bread. He says the ingredients are good for prostate health. He says 50 cents from every loaf sold this month goes to those two charities. The bread will be launched today at the Man Lunch at Wynyard. Goldman asks Whitney what he thinks of the state of Austn cricket currently. Whitney says Australia has lost a couple of games in a row. He says when doesn't think there is too much to worry about.

Chief executive George Maltabarow of EnergyAustralia is encouraging the company’s predominantly male workforce to participate in the Movember event during November to raise awareness about prostate cancer and depression among men. Movember was cofounded by Travis Garone and Luke Slattery in 2003 and is now officially run in nine countries. Last year Australia raised $21 million, with $9 million going to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Beyondblue, the event’s key partner, used the donations it received to fund the Men’s Sheds program and the “Don’t beat about the bush” drought campaign.
