Chief executive George Maltabarow of EnergyAustralia is encouraging the company’s predominantly male workforce to participate in the Movember event during November to raise awareness about prostate cancer and depression among men. Movember was cofounded by Travis Garone and Luke Slattery in 2003 and is now officially run in nine countries. Last year Australia raised $21 million, with $9 million going to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Beyondblue, the event’s key partner, used the donations it received to fund the Men’s Sheds program and the “Don’t beat about the bush” drought campaign.
