A Fighting Fund for Prostate Cancer

As one of Australia’s best known and most respected television personalities, Roger Climpson is renown as a true veteran of the Australian media.. In 1967 Roger became the voice and face of Channel Seven Sydney as Senior Newscaster. In 1977 he became an afternoon presenter on Radio 2GB Sydney and started hosting the top rating television program This is Your Life, hosting 150 episodes from 1977 to 1982. In 1994 Roger was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent surgery, which was successful. Despite the positive outcome, Roger’s experience led him to realise that the situation for men with prostate cancer had to be improved.

“In those days there was virtually no readily available information or support. When I raised this at my Rotary Club at Lane Cove I received great support for working toward an organisation that would help men and we saw the creation of the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Australia which today is the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

In ten years PCFA has achieved much to help men and their families affected by prostate cancer …but there is still so much to do and I ask of you all. Help us find the answers together”.
