PCFA & Cancer Council Queensland lobby Queensland Health for improved elective surgery waiting times for Urology patients.

Professor Jeff Dunn, Chief Executive of Cancer Council Queensland and Dr Anthony Lowe, Chief Executive Officer of Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia have written to the Director General of Queensland Health asking him to respond urgently to the critical delay in elective surgery wait times for urology patients.

More than 530 patients are waiting longer than the clinically recommended time for urology surgery in Queensland, with the total number treated being 690 and the total number on waiting lists is 2681.

A significant proportion of these patients are prostate cancer patients, for which delayed diagnosis and treatment can have serious implications for survival and quality of life.

Cancer Council Queensland and PCFA are jointly committed to reducing the impact of prostate cancer on Queensland men, their partners and families.  If you would like to support our push for improved elective surgery wait times in Queensland hospitals, register your concerns with your local member today.
