The work of PCFA

Funding innovative research

Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) has supported research into prostate cancer since 1999. Its independent, rigorous Research Program however, was established in 2007.

PCFA’s Research Program aims to provide the much needed funds that will help researchers to accelerate the pace of discovery and apply its research results in a timely manner.

This Research Program operates mainly in a targeted mode. Proposals are submitted in response to a targeted funding mechanism and our call for proposals is characterised by opening and closing dates and defined eligibility criteria. Proposals are invited from PCa researchers and those whom aspire to join the PCa research workforce based on tight criteria and set funding categories.

Support, information and advocacy

PCFA is affiliated with over 150 support groups Australia wide who provide support and advocacy, via the phone or face to face to men and their families affected by prostate cancer. These groups meet regularly and provide a meeting forum for the exchange of experiences, ideas and news as well as an invaluable support network.
