LIONS SUPPORT IMPORTANT CAUSE

Thursday, 07 January 2010 12:30
SUBIACO Football Club is proud to announce that it has become community partners with The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

The Subiaco Football Club is using its strong position within the community to increase awareness about the most commonly diagnosed cancer affecting men in Australia.

Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia CEO Andrew Giles said the organisation was delighted to enter a community partnership with the Subiaco Football Club.

"As the peak national body for prostate cancer in Australia, PCFA is dedicated to funding research into the cause, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of prostate cancer, providing support, information and advocacy to men and their families impacted by prostate cancer," Mr Giles said.

"PCFA receives limited funding from government and therefore relies on the generosity of corporate partners, individuals and the community partner such as the Subiaco Football Club to help continue its essential work.”

Subiaco Manager of Marketing & Sponsorship Francis Williams said: “This partnership is an important step forward in generating awareness within the community of WA about the affects of prostate cancer. Men have a tradition of neglecting their health when it comes to such matters as annual checkups.

"It is hoped that through our partnership SFC can help encourage all men to take their general health and well being a little more seriously,” Mr Williams said.

The first of many events which the club will be holding in conjunction with PCFA will be the First Annual Charity Shield that will take place on February 4th at Medibank Stadium.
